Wow, Eric Dubay has really outdone himself. A quote from someone who died in 1601! This was a time when the height of medical science was to bleed someone with leeches. What Tycho Brahe did not understand was that the stars are very far away. Similarly Flat Earthers seem to have trouble understanding the absolutely huge scale of the universe, although they have less of an excuse for their ignorance than Tycho Brahe did.
The nearest star system Alpha Centauri, is 4.37 light years or 25,691,230,000,000 miles away. The diameter of the Earth’s orbit around the Sun is 189,000,000 miles. In proportion if the distance to the nearest star was 1 mile, the side to side motion earth as it moved around the sun would be only about 0.47 inches. The angular difference of the star viewed from either side of the Sun is a minuscule 0.0004 degrees. Obviously this is way too small to make a noticeable difference to the shape of the motion of the stars, or to observe them converge or recede.
But in any case, Tycho Brahe’s failure to detect changes in the stars was conclusively superseded when parallax was measured in 1838 by Friedrich Bessel.
As knowledge increases over time it is obvious the more modern the scientist the more knowledgeable they tend to be. Eric Dubay repeatedly needs to seek out the most historic figures with the most outdated knowledge to quote in order to back up his proofs.
